Pastoral Care Ministries Would you like to make some caring connections AND be either on the giving —or the receiving— end of some special parish ministries?
- The Ministry of Twelve offers short-term assistance, such as making meals, doing laundry, sending cards and offering companionship, for those who are experiencing life’s joys and difficulties. The Ministry Captain for January 2010 is Glenn Horine, 203-254-8408.
Please feel free to call should a situation arise where assistance is needed. For the past seven years, the Ministry of Twelve has offered short-term assistance to those in our parish family.
- The New Samaritans pray, call, write and visit parishioners and their friends and families who are in the hospital, in long-term rehabilitation facilities and at home. Assistance also is given at the monthly Eucharist held at Southport Manor and at Carolton. For more information, contact Ellen Wasson, 255-6623.
- The Prayer Chain is a group of faithful parishioners who pray in their homes for parish members and their friends and for the spiritual growth of the church. Prayers are offered for those who are ill, seeking God’s guidance and/or healing for the body, mind, spirit, relationships or employment. For more information on how to get involved or have names placed on the prayer chain list, contact Mary Field Barrett, 259-6333 or CAABarrett@aol.com.
- The Prayer Shawl Ministry faithfully meets every—and we mean every!—Monday afternoon from 1:30 to 3 PM in the Library. This popular and well-loved ministry knits not only prayer shawls but baby blankets for our newly-baptized, and hats and scarves for various outreach organizations. Newcomers are always welcome and no knitting experience is required. Just ask Mother Dawn. She learned to knit at her very first meeting. For more information, contact Deborah Valentin, 292-3785.
Office Volunteers Our parish is blessed with a dedicated and committed group of office volunteers who support the parish, clergy, and staff in a variety of ways for a morning or afternoon each week, or for special projects. We are always happy to have one or two more people who could help in the office. Parents, while their child is in the nursery school, could help out . . . or someone retired or currently out of work? . . . someone who desires an office environment filled with love, gratefulness and good humor? Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Wendy Steinfeld, 255-0454.
