Altar Guild

Two Members of the Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is responsible for the preparation of the altars in the church and in the chapel for all services, including Sundays, Weddings, Memorial Services and Funerals, and the Wednesday Healing Service, as well as any services that are irregularly scheduled. They are responsible for the care of all the Communion vessels, the altar linens, the candles and any other items that are used in the services, and a representative is always present at weddings, funerals and memorial services. Trinity has a beautiful airy sacristy that was built in 2002 as an addition to the original one built in 1865. It is a pleasure to work there and enjoy the view of the marsh and the harbor from our windows.

Altar Guild members customarily serve as teams of three or four for two week terms. Members sign up on the duty roster at the annual Altar Guild luncheon in the fall, and the team meets on Saturday mornings to prepare for Sunday, then they decide who will serve at which of the services. It is a rewarding service and new members are always welcome.

The Flower Guild

flowerguildThe Flower Guild is responsible for having arrangements behind the altar for Sunday services and often for weddings, memorial services and funerals. The members are scheduled for the year and individually or with a partner obtain and arrange the flowers on Saturday mornings for the Sunday services. The group meets together to plan and orchestrate the flowers for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and other special services. The church is fortunate in having a good supply of mechanics with which to work, and new members are always welcome.

Ushers

The ushers perform a vital function every Sunday and at all Christmas and Holy Week services, dispensing the Sunday leaflets, passing the collection plates, and assisting parishioners to the altar for communion. Occasionally a family will request experienced ushers for a Memorial service, and there are other times such as major concerts when the ushers are called upon. Volunteers can sign up on a duty roster or wait to be assigned, and we always need more.
