Youth Ministry

The Trinity Youth Ministry has recently been restructured to be better integrated into parish life. The ministry incorporates clergy and music and enables the youth to partner more effectively with the deanery and interfaith programs throughout the year.

This past year our youth became leaders in outreach projects, with a Midnight Run in New Haven, a 30 hour Famine Retreat, a car wash in June and internal mission trips. They also participate in and lead the themes of many of the Sunday Breakfasts.

The confirmation class has adopted “Confirm Not Conform” and has expanded a previous eight-month course into a fifteen-month course, to allow the youth-sponsored relationships to deepen. The curriculum focuses on honesty, and asking tough questions, and includes worship, service, and fellowship. Projects are initiated by the Youth leaders and are intended to give the youth a greater understanding of God, their faith, and what it is to be an Episcopalian.

Stephen Blackmer has been appointed our Seminarian for Youth and Pastoral Care. He is in his third and final year of seminary at Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. When not in Connecticut, Stephen's home is in Canterbury, New Hampshire, where he has lived with his wife, Kelly, for nearly 30 years and raised two wonderful children.
