Adult Education

We have many opportunities for enrichment and education, meeting not only on Sundays but also on weekdays and evenings, geared toward all ages. There are two Bible Study groups and our Forums have become well-known in the greater community. It is possible in the course of a year to deepen one’s knowledge and understanding of the Bible, but also to learn about art and religion, the conflicts and history of the Middle East and many other topics that are offered on Sundays by dedicated and informed speakers. The Book Group that began last year has proved to be increasingly popular as various environments, conflicts, and regions of this country are explored. You can find out about upcoming Forums on the Events page.

Educational Forums

Twice a year we have a series of Forums planned by the Rector; In the fall it is Art and Soul, with speakers from educational and art institutions from New York to Boston coming to Trinity on successive Thursday evenings to talk about various topics relating art with spirituality and religion.

In Lent, the Forums are about the Middle East and feature speakers who lecture about politics, art, religion, and many other topics related to the Middle East. Many of the speakers in both series are nationally or internationally known for their knowledge and expertise in their fields, and all of the Forum lectures are open to the public at no charge.

The Middle East Forums have featured speakers on Pakistan, Coptic Christians, Middle East Architecture, Afghanistan, and Christ in the Koran and Islam.

Recent Art and Soul featured speakers from the Yale Center for British Art, the Morgan Library, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Rector, as well as trips to various museums.

The Forums held at the church are preceded by a light soup supper prepared by volunteers and also by evening prayers held in the chapel for those who wish to come early. The lectures are usually in the Parish Hall. Watch for these series on the church calendar and on posters around the church.

There are also Adult Forums featuring speakers and visual aids on many Sundays.

Bible Study

The Rector’s Bible Study meets weekly on Wednesdays from 12:00 –1:00 p.m. in the Library. Different books of the Bible are studied each year, and it is not necessary to sign up in advance. Many people bring their lunch to this, and the name of the book being studied is always in the Messenger and the Spire as well as online.

The Men’s Bible Study is led by the Rector and meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Library and their topic of study is also published in the Messenger, The Spire, and online. For more information about this call Michael Banten at 203-254-2502.
