Father Nicholas and the Trinity Pilgrims will take the train to NYC to see two extraordinary and related exhibitions, the Dead Sea Scrolls at Discovery Times Square and Transition to Christianity, Art of Late Antiquity, 3rd-7th centuries AD at the Onassis Cultural Center at 645 Fifth Avenue. Participants will drive in or take the 8:25 train to Grand Central, meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Discovery Center, have lunch at the location of their choice, and meet again at 2:00 p.m. at the Onassis Center to see the Transition exhibit, after which they will return to Southport. Thursdays, March 1-29: Praying the Psalms: Pat Spoor invites you to join her on Thursday mornings during Lent for a 5-week program; “Praying the Psalms.” This series looks at how the psalmist can teach us to express our hopes and needs, fears and joys to a God described in language rich in imagery and metaphors. Sundays, March 4, 11, 18, 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.: Exploring Your Gifts: A Sunday evening Lenten study will be offered March 4, 11, 18, and 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Each session includes a light supper. This 4-week journey is an opportunity to participate in a process of self-discovery to identify your gifts and the ways you may want to use them in moving toward living a fuller and more authentic life. Through interactive learning and thought-provoking activities, participants will probe the possibilities and opportunities for growth by using their individual gifts in daily life. You will also be able to consider how your Christian faith together with your gifts might call you to “shared ministry.” In the Library.
