Page 1 of 3 About the Officers and the VestryIn the Episcopal Church in the United States of America the Vestry is a body of lay members, elected by the congregation as a whole, which conducts the parish’s secular business. The responsibilities are to help define and execute the mission of the church, oversee the financial health of the parish, oversee the maintenance and expansion of Church property, serve as legal representative of the parish, and act as a liaison between Clergy and the Parish at large. At Trinity, the Vestry is made up of two wardens (Senior and Junior), the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer and 8-12 members of the congregation. The Senior (Rector’s) Warden is selected by the Rector for a two-year term and serves as his/her advisor. The Junior (People’s) Warden is elected by the congregation for a two-year term and serves as the voice of the Parish to the Vestry and Clergy. The Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer are elected by the congregation for a two-year term. Vestry members are elected to serve a 3-year term. Nominations are opened to the Parish at large in November and elections take place at the Annual Meeting, the last Sunday in January. The Trinity Vestry usually meets the third Monday of every month at 7:00pm in the Trinity Library. Check the church calendar for changes. All members of the congregation are welcome to attend any Vestry meeting. Contact numbers for the Vestry members can be found here. |
