Trinity has a long and illustrious history of fine music in the Anglican tradition.
Cherub Choir - The Cherub Choir, ages 3-5, rehearses Mondays from 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM. The Cherubs sing on the first Sunday of each month. Cherubs are introduced to the joy of singing through classic spirituals such as "This little light of mine" and "He's got the whole world in his hands." Many of the Cherub songs include movement and hand motions that amplify the words.
Junior Choristers - The Junior Choristers, ages 6-7, rehearse Tuesdays from 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM and sing at the 10 AM Sunday service once a month. Junior Choristers begin to explore the Hymnal and its many treasures; favorites include "Go down, Moses" and "Morning has broken." By the end of the first Junior year, choristers are beginning to read and thus to follow simple choral octavos and to learn some first rudiments of choral singing: clear diction, dynamics and tone.
Choristers - The Choristers, grades 3-5, rehearse Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Choristers join the Schola and Senior Choristers twice a month, helping to lead worship from the Chancel. Choristers continue to develop choral and vocal skills, warming up their voices to explore an expanding vocal range and incorporating more sophisticated concepts such as phrasing and shaping. Chorister repertoire expands similarly to include anthems from a wide range of traditions, such as Spiritual, Southern Harmony and English Cathedral.
Senior Choristers - The Senior Choristers, grades 6 and up, join our Adult Schola for all Sunday mornings services and for regular appearances at special liturgies and concerts. The choir rehearses Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Senior Choristers begin learning to sing in languages such as Latin and German, thus encountering the great works of the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical periods in addition to the classic Anglican repertoire. Senior Choristers take on a leadership role within the program, modelling the skills together with the attention, focus and commitment that are essential to the program's success. Senior Choristers receive a small stipend for their commitment and service.
Trinity Schola - Our excellent Schola singers collaborate with our Chorister groups at all liturgies and sing a major concert at our Summer Music Festival. They also offer special choral liturgies throughout the year. The Schola welcomes singers ages 17 and older and is an excellent opportunity for high-school students whose voices have changed or who seek new musical horizons within our program here at Trinity. The Schola rehearses on Sunday mornings after the 10:00 AM liturgy.
Trinity Chorale - Does the every-Sunday commitment of the Trinity Schola sound overwhelming? Consider singing with the equally excellent Chorale, which dedicates a six to eight week rehearsal period to a special project, usually a major work with orchestra. The Chorale, like the Schola, welcomes everyone ages 17 and up. Rehearsals are held in the choir loft on Wednesday evenings from 7 PM - 9 PM. The Chorale will collaborate with The Knights Chamber Orchestra in a gala concert on Thursday, May 14, 2009; rehearsals will begin in March.
We are blessed at Trinity to have inherited a beautiful tradition that manifestly amplifies God's word. And we are doubly blessed to have inherited a tradition through which we and our children can come to know God better, to know ourselves and each other better. All at Trinity are most welcome to share this legacy; all six choirs happily welcome new members throughout the year.
