In religion and spirituality, a pilgrimage is a long journey or search of great moral significance. Sometimes, it is a journey to a sacred place or shrine of importance to a person's beliefs and faith. Members of every major religion participate in pilgrimages. A person who makes such a journey is called a pilgrim.
Every year, the Trinity community goes on a pilgrimage to various Holy Sites around the world. The goals of these pilgrimage's are to deepen and better understand our faith. In 2009 we will be visiting holy sites in Jordan.
Pilgrimage preparation sessions will be held through out March 2009. They will be held Sunday evenings in the Parish Hall from 5 - 6:30 PM. Following are dates for these sessions:
- March 1: Holy Land Primer - An Introduction to the Geography, People and Religions of Jordan and Jerusalem.
- March 8: "Tent of Abraham" - Christians, Jews and Muslims discuss encountering the Holy in pilgrimage. The evening includes a Concert, Evensong, Reception and Presentations.
- March 15: Wilderness Kingdoms - Jerash, Petra and Desert Castles explored and interpreted.
- March 22: Sword and Scepter - Modern History and Politics of Jordan and Jerusalem.
- March 29: Jerusalem the Golden - Church of Holy Sepulchre, Dome of the Rock, Temple and Church of the Nativity explored and interpreted.
