Honduras Mission and Service Trips
Trinity parishioners made their first service and mission trip to Honduras in 2000 forging a partnership with the Episcopal Church San Lucas that has grown with successive trips. Located outside the busy industrial hub of San Pedro Sula, the church is set in the remote hilltop village of Delicias del Norte where there is no running water and scant electricity. The church is the most substantial structure in the village -- from both the physical and societal perspectives.
Over the years Trinity service trips have helped build a road leading to the church, constructed windows in the Sunday school, built a water tower and bathrooms, and in March 2007 constructed concrete steps from the church to the Sunday school. Our work has helped this small church, led by Deacon Barbara Boghetich and Padre Norman Aguilar, grow to a vibrant spiritual community. Trinity service groups include parishioners of all ages, from teens to octogenarians.
In addition, Trinity supports some of San Lucas's teens through scholarships allowing them to attend middle school and high school.
Our intention is to create stronger ties with San Lucas and to provide whatever spiritual strength and encouragement we can. The relationship is growing broader and deeper with each encounter. Surely this is the incarnation of the church as a world-wide fellowship in Christ. Your prayers for this partnership are pivotal -- please pray often.
